St. Petersburg is an attractive place to live because of all it has to offer and, in our opinion, is one of the greatest cities in the world. St. Petersburg often intertwines history, entertainment and pleasure. Residents of St. Petersburg enjoy and often expect to have an active lifestyle and exquisite entertainment.
Some hobbies that call St. Petersburg home are:
- Rock Climbing
Tampa Bay Club Sport is an organization that organizes various sporting events for professionals to participate. It’s a great way to get exercise and make friends while playing the sport one loves and enjoys. Young professionals take advantage of this organization for cornhole, volleyball and kickball. Besides playing cornhole at football, baseball, soccer and concert tailgates on the weekends, professionals can play cornhole at Ferg’s Live, World of Beer in Westchase and Yard of Ale in downtown St. Petersburg and Tampa’s SoHo. Volleyball courts are throughout St. Petersburg’s Northshore Park, the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus and expand the beaches from Pass-A-Grille to Clearwater. Kickball is played by many young professionals at Azalea Park, Hoyt Park in Gulfport, North Shore Park and the Woodlawn Softball Complex.
The St. Petersburg Shuffleboard club has provided the residents of St. Petersburg with the opportunity to play shuffleboard, weather permitting, since 2005 on Friday’s from 7 to 10 p.m. Some things to note are that it is first come, first serve; players and commentators are welcome to bring their well behaved dogs and own food and drinks as long as they are not glass. If you do not know how to play, member volunteers of the club are present and able to teach those willing to learn.
Feeling adventurous? Rock climbing, a newer fitness waive has struck the downtown area of St. Petersburg. Vertical Ventures is not your traditional rock climbing gym, but is a training space that includes yoga and fitness classes. Vertical Ventures features over 80 climbing lanes with a dedicated training area and routes that are 40 feet tall.
Acroyoga has become a fascination across all demographics and young professionals have gravitated toward its mastery. Acroyoga is where yogis advance from the ground to the air (called a flyer) with the help of a partner (called a base) and utilize their bodies’ alignment and flexibility to complete yoga in the air. The Movement Sanctuary now calls downtown St. Petersburg its home and offers classes to yogis of all levels.
Kiteboarding is enjoyed by many. Because the sport requires wind, many kiteboarders can be discovered in open water areas around downtown St. Petersburg, around the Sunshine Skyway bridge, between the Gandy bridge and beach and by the St. Petersburg pier.
Paddleboarding has gathered popularity among all professionals. Paddleboarding requires water, a good center of gravity and a little balance. Paddleboarders enjoy the freedom and ability to go. The Urban Kai offers sunset paddles and launches from the Getaway on Gandy. Participants can rent a paddleboard and watch the sunset while enjoying the water. Suncoast Watersports offers rentable paddleboards and scenic views of St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Boca Ciega Bay and the surrounding areas.
No matter what you enjoy, St. Petersburg has a place for you, your hobby, profession and family.
