New Year, New Look for the Home
Homeownership is and has been one of the declarations of success from the beginning of American culture, cue the American Dream. A home is, as it should be, an oasis and safe place for all its residents.
A new year always brings exciting new designs for all in a home. Here are seven home designs that are going to be “hot, hip and happenin’” for 2018, according to Lauren Smith, Home Web Editor for HouseBeautiful.com and GoodHousekeeping.com:
- Recessed lighting instead of exposed lighting
- Marble and quartz countertops instead of granite countertops
- Eco-friendly flooring instead of Bamboo flooring
- Kitchen cabinets instead of open shelves
- Professional craftsman work instead of the DIY way of life crafted by millennials everywhere
- Mixed metals and muted colors instead of rose gold
- New, modern furniture pieces instead of recycled wood for rustic looking furniture pieces.
It will be interesting to see, as the year progresses, whether or not these seven fads will be replaced by those stated above.
