Tierra Verde

Tierra Verde is a small island community on the southern tip of Pinellas County with a history that goes back as far as Ponce de Leon, Hernando de Soto, Jose’ Gaspar, Jean Lafitte and other explorers and buccaneers that sailed this area since the 1500s. What was once 15 islands covered in mangroves, pines, and bush, is now home to over 3,700 residents who live in numerous condominium communities, single family homes and luxury estate homes. Tierra Verde’s residents enjoy the nearest proximity to the internationally recognized Ft. De Soto, world class beaches and proximity to Downtown St. Petersburg or the Pinellas County Beaches.

Neighborhoods on the island include single-family homes, waterfront low-rise condominiums, and waterfront or off the water townhomes. Canals throughout the island provide easy access for boaters into the Gulf of Mexico, Boca Ciega Bay and Tampa Bay. Its waterways are 150 to 350 feet wide and up to 15ft deep, scientifically engineered to allow the Gulf’s tide to sweep the waterways clean. This provides its residents with ample fishing and dolphin watching opportunities.  In addition to being coastal, Tierra Verde has a very nautical feel, providing a leisurely, secluded environment on the water. Recommended local spots include Island Grille and Raw Bar, Tony and Nello’s, as well as Billy’s Stone Crab restaurant to enjoy the sunset at a roof-top bar. From the island you can easily grab a ferry to explore the wildlife and historic forts of Egmont Key, or enjoy the endless unspoiled beaches of Fort Desoto Park.  The new Tierra Verde Marina and Hi and Dry Boat Storage provides the mariners quick access to Gulf of Mexico and safe storage for their boats and yachts.
